About MeFor as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a teacher. As a kid, I would tape sheets of paper to the wall- my version of a whiteboard- and force my younger sister and brother to participate in my lessons. This was followed by completing workbook pages that I would then gleefully grade ( I will send them your condolences). So naturally, I chose to complete my Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education and English Literature from Eastern Michigan University.
But inside this Ohio farm girl was a sunglasses-and-flip-flops-wearing beach bum. I decided to move to Florida and "teach by the beach", which has changed the course of my life for the better. I actually met my husband Octavio at South Broward, as he is a former Music Director at the school. Octavio and I have have been married almost 6 years and we have two awesome little girls. We enjoy spending time at the beach and the myriad of parks/zoos/museums in the tri-county area (although this is less enjoyable in the muggy summer heat). On the weekend, you can often find us at our daughters' favorite stores- Target and Barnes & Noble- followed by their favorite restaurant, Panera Bread. Most of all, we enjoy swimming in the pool and spend most of our summer afternoons there. As part of my professional achievements, I completed my Master's in Reading from Barry University in 2012 and am a NESS Coach for new educators. I am constantly honing my skills, attending workshops and professional development throughout the summer months. I have been teaching for thirteen years, including Reading, English, and Cambridge courses in 9-12. I look forward to working with you as part of your academic journey! |
